Six Sterling College students were selected to take part in the Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants’ Member Value Day and Student-CPA Connect event. These students attended the event, held in Wichita, to gain real world perspectives and the opportunity to connect with CPA professionals in the field.

“The network of certified public accountants in Kansas is so helpful and supportive of accounting students in the state. This event really encouraged our students to move forward on resume building through internship connections and ideas for summer employment. Our department looks forward to taking students to this event, and every time we go, it is a quality experience,” said Irene Barkman, assistant professor of business.

Students who attended include: Emily Fuller of Miltonvale, Kansas; Jessica Bloom of Wichita, Kansas; Hope Harshberger of Meade, Kansas; Daniel Rupp of Sterling, Kansas; Kenya Edner of Pittsburg, California; and Devin MacGregor of Allen Park, Michigan.

The Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants is a 2,700-member, voluntary membership association dedicated to implementing strategies that enhance the well-being of its members, the accounting profession and the general public.
