Sterling College has been ranked among the 2025 Best Regional Colleges Midwest Rankings by U.S. News & World Report. Sterling has also been ranked among the 2025 Top Performers on Social Mobility. Now in its 40th year, the rankings evaluate nearly 1,500 national colleges and universities on up to 17 measures of academic quality and place an emphasis on social mobility and outcomes for graduating college students.

“We are honored to be recognized by outside institutions for our hard work and dedication to our students. U.S. News & World Report has repeatedly recognized Sterling College for our commitment to students and their families. Our faculty and staff make this award possible and I am proud of the education and experience our students receive here at Sterling College,” Dr. Scott A. Rich, president of the College.

U.S. News publishes the Best Colleges rankings each year to provide prospective students and their families with the comparative merits of the undergraduate programs at America’s colleges and universities. The rankings offer detailed information of the institutions and data on factors such as outcome measures — including graduation rates, graduate indebtedness and post-graduate earnings.

“For 40 years, Best Colleges has continued to evolve as a trusted companion to prospective students and their families during the decision-making process,” said LaMont Jones, Ed.D., managing editor for Education at U.S. News. “The rankings and editorial content offer crucial data as well as college advice and informed reporting to all who seek a college education.”

“We hear so many comments from our incoming class about how excited they are about our small class sizes and the personal connection they make with professors, coaches and staff. They are ready for the next step in their education and Sterling College meets them and engages them in academics, athletics, activities and more,” said Mitzi Suhler, vice president for enrollment services.
