Sterling College Homecoming Celebration Begins Thursday
Sterling College begins its homecoming celebration Thursday with the musical, Children of Eden, opening at 8:00 p.m. in Culbertson Auditorium. In addition to the musical, there are plenty of activities for the community to get involved in and enjoy the festivities.
Saturday begins with a Pancake Breakfast hosted by the Lady Warrior Basketball team. The fundraiser breakfast is from 7:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church at 317 N. Broadway. Admission at the door is $6, and for children 10 and under, $0.25 per year of the child’s age.Walk outside the church to line up along Broadway to watch the homecoming parade, starting at 9:30 a.m. This year you will see Jim and Carol Chroust as the grand marshals of the parade. Jim was an employee at Sterling College for 17 years. Eleven of those years, he served as the men’s basketball coach and an assistant football coach. He later served as the vice president of development. The parade will be followed by the Homecoming Hangout where you will find face painting, a petting zoo, inflatable games, food, booths, and more. The football game against Bethel College begins at 1:30 p.m. at Smisor Stadium, with the coronation of homecoming king and queen at halftime.
Sterling College’s Homecoming musical, Children of Eden, will run Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 8:00 p.m. in Culbertson Auditorium. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and all seats are reserved. Tickets are available at the Sterling College Box Office in Culbertson. Box office hours are 1-5 p.m. and re-opening on show nights at 7:00 p.m. until the show time. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for children, students and senior citizens. For more information, call the box office at (620) 278-4279.
