Sterling College Freeman Lecture Series to welcome Nancy Ortberg

Continuing a tradition of excellence and leadership training, The Ross and Fern Freeman Lecture Series for Servant Leadership will feature speaker Nancy Ortberg on Friday, Oct. 30, 2015, at 10 a.m. at Sterling College. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in Culbertson Auditorium in Spencer Hall. Ortberg is the author of “Looking for God: An Unexpected Journey through Tattoos, Tofu, & Pronouns” and “Unleashing the Power of Rubber Bands, Lessons in Non-Linear Leadership.” Ortberg served as a teaching pastor for eight years at Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, Illinois. During that time she lead Network, a ministry that helps people identify their spiritual gifts and find a place of service in the church, and Axis, which conducted weekend services of 1,200 people in their 20s who worshipped together, served the poor, and participated in small-group communities. She is a founding partner of Teamworx2, a business and leadership consulting firm that works with organizations helping leaders and teams overcome obstacles to high performance and work enjoyment. She and her husband, John, now live in the Bay Area where John is senior pastor at Menlo Park Presbyterian Church and have three children, Laura, Mallory and Johnny.

The Freeman Lecture Series seeks to educate individuals on the various values and applications of leadership by highlighting the servant leadership attributes present in others.
