Wednesday, February 4, 2015

Daniels is the executive director of The Hope Center in Kansas City, Missouri, an organization bringing change to the community through the development of programs and community support. The Peacemakers Convocation takes place on Friday, Feb. 13, at 10 a.m. in Culbertson Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

Daniels served as vice president of leadership development at Kids Across America, a Christian sports camp and youth development ministry; and he is the founder of Beyond the Norm, a training program that provides transformational skills for transformational ministry. He served as adjunct professor of youth ministry at Gordon College and North Park College; was a youth pastor in New York City, Chicago, Boston, and Philadelphia; and served with the Jackson County Juvenile Courts in Kansas City. He holds a Master’s in Education and accredited certifications in urban missiology, mediation and dispute resolution, and youth development in the urban context.

“The mission of the Peacemakers Convocation series is to bring in speakers who are working on behalf of the voiceless and oppressed. We believe that as Christians, we must address the issues of race relations and reconciliation to break down barriers between people so that the good news of Christ’s love spreads. Our belief is that this change embraces the call of Jesus for us to be the Blessed Peacemakers. It also hearkens to the words of Dr. King that ‘injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere,’” said Christian Dashiell, chaplain.

The Hope Center is a Christian community development organization that “out of our belief in God, is working diligently to renew the forgotten, impoverished east-side community where we live and serve. We are investing in its people, in particular the youth, anticipating that their transformed lives will offer the hope and leadership needed for our inner city community to flourish.”
