Sterling College Announces 2011 Homecoming Court
Sterling College has announced its six Homecoming King and Queen Candidates for the SC Homecoming weekend on October 13 – October 15, 2011. The Homecoming Ceremonies will take place on Saturday, October 15 during halftime of the football game against Bethel College of North Newton, Kansas. Kick-off for the game will be at 1:30 pm.
Candidates are selected by fellow classmates and employees of the College. Candidates must have a least a 2.5 GPA, be in good standing with College and must be a senior or a junior who plans to graduate in the spring.
The 2011 King Candidates:
Matt Hastings is a senior from Independence, Kan. While at Sterling, Matt has participated in choir, Highland Singers, theatre, praise band and student government. He also served as a resident assistant. Matt is a music major with a concentration in vocal performance. He is the son of Kenney and Julie Hastings.
Jordan Stineman of Salina, Kan., was on the tennis team at Sterling, participates in intramurals and ultimate frisbee and serves as a resident assistant. Jordan has also participated in SC mission trips to Ghana and Peru. Jordan is a senior with a theology and ministry major with a missions concentration. He is the son of Darrin and Kathy Stineman.
Adam Taylor is a senior from Scott City, Kan. While at Sterling, Adam has participated in SC missions, praise band, intramurals, ultimate frisbee and the student chaplain program. Adam is a theology and ministry major with a concentration in youth ministry. He is the son of Lynn and Traci Taylor.
The 2011 Queen Candidates:
Hannah Herrington is a senior from Wichita, Kan. While at Sterling, Hannah has participated in missions, Campus Activities Board, Raya 3.27 and serves as a resident assistant. Hannah is an elementary education major, the recipient of the Kansas Teacher of Promise award and has served on the Teacher Education Committee. She is the daughter of Ty and Lori Herrington.
Caitlin Magee is a senior from San Leandro, Calif. While at Sterling, Caitlin has been a member of the SC Lady volleyball and basketball teams, participated in SC missions and has served as a resident assistant for two years. Caitlin is a Business major and is the daughter of Randy and Louise Magee.
Kacie Rogers is a senior from Wichita, Kan. She has served as Orientation Staff director for two years, is a Theatre at Sterling College officer and student senator. Kacie participates in International Justice Mission and is an ambassador for the admissions department. She is a Christian Ministries major with a concentration in Youth and a Theatre minor. Kacie is the daughter of Howard and Ruth Rogers.
Attendants in the homecoming court are Bay Baker of Estancia, N.M. and Tate Strasner of Mount Hope, Kan. for the freshman class, Kaitlin Sumption of Vinton, Iowa, and Shiloh Duff of Scott City, Kan. for the sophomore class, and Cassie Spleiss of Camp Verde, Ariz. and Scott McKinney of Superior, Neb. for the junior class.
