Sterling College Education Student Keeley Coon, of Eureka, Kan., was recognized at the 2024 Dale Dennis Kansas Teacher of the Year Banquet as a “Teacher of Promise.” The banquet was held in Wichita earlier this fall.
“Teacher of Promise embodies excellence and Keeley will most certainly have her thumbprint on student success in her own classroom. I am pleased to see her honored in this way,” said Dr. William Anderson, assistant professor of education.
Coon was recognized by Dr. Randy Watson, commissioner of the State Department of Education, at the banquet.
Each semester, one or two students in their senior year are selected according to criteria that relate to the key elements of the Sterling Teacher Education Program and include educational dispositions, along with content, professional and cumulative GPAs.
