Senior exhibit and juried student art show open Nov. 20

Wednesday, November 12, 2014

Two art exhibits will be housed simultaneously in the gallery of the Art and Media Center at Sterling College. Lucas Knauss will display his senior thesis work, “Unnatural Selection: The Game!” along with the juried student art show, opening Thursday, Nov. 20, from 5-7 p.m. Awards for best of show, second and third place of the juried show will be announced at 6 p.m. The public is invited to attend this free event; artwork will be on display until Dec. 11.

Knauss of Abilene, Kansas, has created and designed a unique trading card and board game for the basis of his senior art project. Using digital media, he has developed 30 components of the game, 18 of which will be on display.

“‘Unnatural Selection’ has been a blast to create. I’ve enjoyed crafting and molding the characters, adapting the story, figuring out game play and learning how to better produce my art. I can’t wait to show my work and play the game with (those at the opening),” said Knauss.

Majoring in art and design with concentrations in illustration, photography and graphic design, Knauss will finish school at the end of the fall 2014 semester. He will officially graduate with the class of 2015.

The juried student show is open to all Sterling College students. Artwork must have been completed while a student was enrolled at Sterling College and within the past year.
