Three senior art students at Sterling College are finishing the details of their senior show, “Rebellion,” which will open with a reception Dec. 1 from 5-7 p.m. Brittney Lewis, Sean Winn and Chase Wolff will display their work, which includes painting, photography and mixed media pieces, in the Sterling College Art and Media Center gallery until Dec. 14.
Despite no formal training with the College’s debate and forensics team, the students drew upon their experience in the classroom.

Taking one class in argumentation and debate does not usually make you an expert in the subject, but four students at Sterling College decided to test their skills at the Tulsa Invitational debate tournament. Despite no formal training with the College’s debate and forensics team, the students drew upon their experience in the classroom. And apparently having a professor who wrote a book about argumentation and debate was advantageous since two students walked away with awards. Anna Adamyk of McPherson, Kansas, and Micah Black of McPherson, Kansas, finished ninth and fifth respectively.

Former Sterling College Board of Trustee member Robert “Bob” McCreery ’63 of Estes Park, Colorado, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016.
“We are saddened to hear of Bob’s passing. He lived out the very heart of servant leadership within his family, community and at Sterling College. The McCreery family is very near and dear to our hearts, and our prayers go out to their family,” said Scott Rich, president.
Kayla Meitler and Erika Rojas have received the honor of being named Sterling College’s Teachers of Promise for the fall semester.

Kayla Meitler of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Erika Rojas of Wichita, Kansas, have received the honor of being named Sterling College’s Teachers of Promise for the fall semester. Meitler and Rojas will be recognized at the Kansas Teacher of the Year Awards Banquet on Nov. 19 in Wichita.
The Kansas State High Patrol has released the names of two Sterling College students that died in a car accident on Monday morning.

The Kansas State High Patrol has released the names of two Sterling College students that died in a car accident on Monday morning. The deceased students are juniors Esther Jenkerson of Datil, New Mexico, and Xavier Bradford of Lancaster, California. Jenkerson was an athletic training major. Bradford was a writing and editing: creative writing major and on the Sterling College football team.
Randi (Morris) Wise ’13 will return to her Alma Mater, Sterling College, as a faculty member in 2017.

Randi (Morris) Wise ’13 will return to her Alma Mater, Sterling College, as a faculty member in 2017. Beginning in August, Wise will join the Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics as assistant professor of chemistry.
Beginning Nov. 1, Sheila Bird will serve as Sterling College’s associate vice president for advancement.

Beginning Nov. 1, Sheila Bird will serve as Sterling College’s associate vice president for advancement. Bird, who was the director of planned giving, has worked at Sterling College since 2013.
“We’re thrilled to have Sheila in this important role for Sterling College. She has established hundreds of trusting relationships with our alumni and friends, leading to increased giving to the College,” said Scott Carter, vice president for institutional advancement and external relations.

Just six years after graduating from Sterling College, Matthew Ehresman ’10, has been published in several popular Christian magazines and has authored his first book. For demonstrated excellence in his career, service to others and loyalty to Sterling College, Ehresman was awarded the 2016 Young Alumni Award on Oct. 14 at the Alumni Banquet and Awards Dinner. In addition to his freelance writing, Ehresman is the creative media director at First MB Church in Wichita.
The annual Alumni Award for Sterling College was awarded to Teddi Bryant ’88 of Denver, Colorado.

The annual Alumni Award for Sterling College was awarded to Teddi Bryant ’88 of Denver, Colorado. Bryant is the founder and owner of Hot Mamas Exercise. She was recognized at the Alumni Dinner and Awards Banquet on Friday, Oct. 14, 2016. The Alumni Award is presented annually to alumni who graduated more than 15 years ago and who has demonstrated sustained excellence in career, service to others and loyalty to Sterling College.
