Love Sterling Volunteers lend helping hand across city

Love Sterling continues to grow as approximately 300 volunteers from Sterling College and the community joined together for a day of service and celebration. The teams completed 46 projects and served an estimated 1,100 hours.

Students, faculty, staff and Sterling community members were out painting, raking, cleaning up brush and landscaping. The football team helped spread mulch at the Sterling Grade School playground while others worked with Main Street Sterling to plant the flower beds along Broadway. Volunteers helped paint at the library and light cleaning and window washing was done at Presbyterian Manor.

“Love Sterling is a great way to serve as the body of Christ in a very practical way. It is super cool to see half of the student body come together and genuinely serve over forty-five people. It is a blast,” said sophomore Josh Hood. This is Hood’s second year on the planning committee for Love Sterling.

A celebration dinner for the event was held at Sterling Lake. “Holdfast,” a band from Hutchinson, was there as entertainment while volunteers and community members enjoyed the lake and a cookout.
