Love Sterling extends beyond one day

Wednesday, May 3, 2017

With a 100 percent chance of rain in the forecast for Saturday, April 29, three Love Sterling teams used Friday’s weather to complete service projects early. While the inclement weather dampened part of the productivity of Saturday, approximately 15 projects were worked on, with a few more scheduled for the week following Love Sterling.

“I'm amazed at the spirit of servant leadership in our Love Sterling volunteers. Despite a weather forecast that called for rain all day on Saturday, we had Sterling teams and community members involved in those projects who were willing to jump in early. It is disappointing when the weather doesn't cooperate but that just gave us a unique opportunity to adjust our plans and still serve our community,” said Erica Foss, coordinator of Love Sterling and executive assistant to the president.

Some of the teams, led by coaches and faculty, will meet throughout the week following Love Sterling to complete their assigned projects.

“It’s one more example of great leaders on our campus and the purpose of Love Sterling. The community supports Sterling College throughout the year, so giving back is really important. These teams are committed to serving, whether it happens on the day of Love Sterling or not,” said Foss.
