Sterling College senior Ashley Hasart will be performing her senior vocal recital on Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Sterling United Presbyterian Church. The public is invited to attend the recital which will last for approximately one hour.
The Women's Basketball team played their final game of the Lady Warrior Classic and took on the Haskell Indian Nation University Indians. The Lady Warriors were able to pull out a victory thanks with key free throws late in the game and secure the 62-58 win and also the 700th victory for Head Coach Lonnie Kruse.
The need for physical therapists continues to grow, and Sterling College is working to prepare students to meet that demand by opening a new major this fall – health science. Starting in August, students at the College began classes for health science: pre-physical therapy, preparing them for graduate physical therapy programs.
Seniors Erica Nua, of Palmdale, Calif., and Jessica Smith, of Lindsborg, Kan., have been named as the fall Sterling College Teachers of Promise. Two Teachers of Promise are selected each semester from a pool of candidates who will be clinical teaching the following semester and are recognized by Sterling College and the Kansas State Department of Education.
Fans traveling to Baldwin City to cheer on the Warriors in the NAIA Playoffs on Saturday, November 23 are invited to join fellow fans before the game on the campus of Baker University to enjoy warm refreshments from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Over 90 area high school students interested in art met at the Sterling College Art and Media Center on Friday, Nov. 15, to learn about painting techniques, color mixing, digital painting, hand lettering and figure drawing. Under the guidance of Sterling College art faculty and majors, the visiting students spent the day learning various skills and exploring new areas of art.
The Sterling College Football team traveled to Salina, Kan. on Saturday to take on the Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes in the final game of the historic 2013 season. The Coyotes got the best of the Warriors in the first half but Sterling would break free in the second half and score 29 unanswered points to win it first KCAC football title in school history with a final score of 36-19.
The Sterling Teacher Education Program at Sterling College announced Monday, Nov. 4, that it has received continued accreditation by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. According to NCATE, receiving continued accreditation means that the institution has met “rigorous standards set forth by the professional education community.”
The Sterling College Department of Art and Design will be hosting the annual juried student art show with the opening reception on Nov. 14, from 5–7 p.m. Awards for best of show, second and third place will be announced at 5:30 p.m.
