Sterling College's Music and Theatre Departments will present Engelbert Humperdinck's opera “Hansel and Gretel” to the Sterling community on January 24-25 at 7:30 p.m. The opera will take place in Culbertson Auditorium on the Sterling College campus. Tickets are available by donation at the door.
“Hansel and Gretel” will be the first opera put on at Sterling in over two decades.

Students interested in pursuing nursing have a new opportunity at Sterling College. Sterling announced it has signed an articulation agreement with Hesston College that will guarantee qualified Sterling students admission to Hesston’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. The agreement is effective immediately.

Sterling College will host its Spiritual Emphasis Week on February 5-7, 2020, culminating with the College’s sixth annual Peacemakers Convocation at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 7. The convocation will feature Henry Thompson as the featured speaker. Thompson is an associate pastor at Christ Community Church in Kansas City. The public is invited to attend the event, which is held in Culbertson Auditorium.

The fall season of competition was fruitful for the Sterling College Debate and Forensics Teams, bringing home awards from every tournament, most recently from the Cameron Christmas Classic Tournament hosted by Cameron University in Lawton, Okla., on Dec. 6-8. The three-day tournament, co-hosted by Cameron University and West Texas A&M University included several competitions for both debate and forensics.

Sterling College has announced a new scholarship, The Warrior Way Scholarship. The scholarship offers $16,900 of institutional aid to prospective students who meet the criteria to be awarded. Sterling College recognized the inaugural class of its Marketplace Excellence Awards Winners during its 2019 Homecoming Weekend.
The Excellence in Business Award was awarded to Jim Brackensick ’79, the Excellence in Ministry Award was awarded to Jim Conway ’54, the Entrepreneurial Award was awarded to Lance Woodbury ’93, the STEM Distinction Award was awarded to Greg Stone ’88, the Excellence in Scholarship Award was awarded to Dr. Stuart Robertson ’65 and the Excellence in Education Award was awarded to Mike Manning ’88.

While it may be hard to picture a circus-style setting to tell the Biblical story of Job, that is exactly what Archibald MacLeish’s Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning play “J.B.” does. Sterling College Theatre will be presenting this rarely seen but widely studied play on Friday-Saturday, November 22-23 at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, November 24, at 2 p.m. in Culbertson Auditorium on the Sterling College campus.
