Sterling College has unveiled plans for strategic growth through its SterlingNOW Capital Campaign. SterlingNOW, the College’s largest capital campaign to date with a goal of $25 million, seeks to upgrade science and academic facilities, renovate and expand Gleason Physical Education Center and grow the College’s endowment. Sterling College has been challenged by the J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation with a proposed $2 million from the foundation if the challenge is met.
Dara Quastad has earned her way to the American Forensics Association National Tournament in persuasive speaking.

Dara Quastad of Inman, Kansas, is still a novice in years of forensics practice, but she has again earned her way to the American Forensics Association National Tournament in persuasive speaking. Quastad and teammate Stephen Jenkins of Topeka, Kansas, earned champion and runner-up, respectively, in persuasive speaking at the AFA District 3 National Individual Events Tournament hosted March 3 in Norman, Oklahoma.
14 photographic prints have been restored and are on display in the SC Art and Media Center.

Found in the archives of Sterling College, 14 photographic prints have been restored and are on display in the gallery of the Sterling College Art and Media Center. The majority of the prints are tintypes, a photographic process used in the mid-19th century, and will be on display through March 29, 2018. The public is invited to view “The Sterling Tintypes,” which will be open weekdays March 5-9 and March 19-29 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
The Sterling College Highland Singers will tour March 9-18.

The Sterling College Highland Singers will tour March 9-18, making their first stop in Fruita, Colorado, for a Friday evening concert. The 18-voice mixed choir will sing a variety of selections including classic, sacred and choral settings of contemporary worship music. Tomas Ortiz of Lyons, Kansas, and Aaron Pinkerton of Dodge City, Kansas, represented Sterling College as the spring Teachers of Promise at the KEEN Conference in Topeka on Feb. 15-16, 2018. The students were recognized at the annual awards banquet.

It’s regarded as one of the most famous love story ever told, yet it has never been staged in Sterling, Kansas. Not at the Sterling High School, Sterling College or the Sterling Community Theatre. Until now. Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” is being staged by Sterling College Theatre, featuring a mixture of college students, high school students, and community members from age 16 to 64.
Sterling College hosted the Kansas State Individual Events Tournament with colleges and universities from across the state.

Sterling College hosted the Kansas State Individual Events Tournament Feb. 10, with colleges and universities from across the state competing for championship titles. Four Sterling College students walked away with awards, the highest from freshman Matt Scharff of Tonganoxie, Kansas, being named state champion in dramatic interpretation.

Sterling College will unveil the latest campus master plan as part of a reception for the SterlingNOW Campaign on March 8, 2018, at Studio 96.The come-and-go reception will be held from 5-7 p.m., with a short program starting at 6 p.m. Sterling College Trivia will be held at 5:45 p.m., with prizes for the winners. Sterling College Online Learning has been named to the Top 50 Most Affordable Bachelor’s in Elementary Education or Early Childhood by Top Education Degrees. The ranking considered tuition, student to faculty ratio, and national recognition.
Sterling College ranked favorably among the likes of other institutions named to the list including Asbury University, LeTourneau University, University of Nebraska Lincoln.
