Sterling College welcomed the 2025 Kansas Teacher of the Year (KTOY) team to campus on Tuesday, February 24, providing education students with an opportunity to learn from some of the state's most distinguished educators. The KTOY team, led by Elizabeth “Liz” Anstine, a business teacher at Leavenworth High School and the 2025 Kansas Teacher of the Year, delivered presentations focused on innovative teaching strategies and classroom management techniques.

“I am grateful to have had the Kansas Teacher of the Year team visit our campus these last three years.  They always bring such energy and help inspire our education majors who will be entering the classroom after graduation,” said Dr. William Anderson, assistant professor of education.

In addition to the presentations, students participated in one-on-one discussions with KTOY team members, gaining mentorship and personalized guidance from experienced educators.

The 2025 KTOY team included eight outstanding educators from across Kansas. Sterling College extends its gratitude to the Kansas State Department of Education and the KTOY team for investing in the future of teacher education and providing Sterling students with a unique professional development experience.

“I had a great time during the presentation.  The KTOY team championed our desire to be future educators and reminded us about the positive impact we will have with students in the classroom,” said Sophomore Kimberly Skirvin.
