Sterling College’s Elizabeth Herrington competed among more than 1,800 of America’s best and brightest college students who traveled to Southern California to establish their own “Legacy of Leadership” as they competed for the opportunity to win more than $95,000 in cash awards.

Herrington received national recognition at the PBL Awards of Excellence Program on June 27 through competing in the categories of Job Interview and Client Service and brought home eighth and ninth places, respectively. She was then awarded her trophies at the awards ceremony that evening.

“[National Leadership Conference] was a great opportunity to meet people from across the country, learn new skills through workshops and compete at the top level. My events really challenged me, and I had a great time at the conference,” said Herrington, of Wichita, Kansas.

The Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) National Leadership Conference was held June 24–27 in Anaheim. Participants from across the United States attended this exciting conference to enhance their business skills, expand their networks, and participate in 60 business and business-related competitive events.

Herrington qualified for the conference at the State Leadership Conference, held March 3-4, 2017, in Sterling. The awards were part of a comprehensive national competitive events program sponsored by FBLA-PBL that recognizes and rewards excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas. For many students, the competitive events are the capstone activity of their academic careers. In addition to competitions, students immersed themselves in interactive workshops, visited an information-packed exhibit hall, and heard from motivational keynotes on a broad range of business topics.
