Gasper Named to the NAIA All-America Second Team
Kansas City, Kan. - Sterling College's Britany Gasper has been named to the 2011 NAIA Division II Women's Basketball All-America Second Team for the first time. The NAIA announced the All-America Teams this afternoon on the NAIA website. Gasper finished her playing career for Sterling this season.
This season, Gasper scored 481 points in 33 games for a 14.6 points per game average and earned All KCAC First Team honors as well as was named the KCAC Player of the Year. In 2010-2011, the Lady Warriors were Co-Champions of the KCAC Regular Season, their fifth straight championship, and made it to the "Sweet Sixteen" in the 2011 State Farm-NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship Tournament where they were knocked out by Northwestern College (Iowa), the eventual 2011 State Farm-NAIA National Tournament Champion.
Britany's best game of the 2011 season came in the final game of the year against Northwestern in the State Farm-NAIA National Tournament. In the Sterling loss, Gasper scored a career and season high 29 points on 12 of 19 shooting. Gasper's effort in the spotlight was one of many reasons she was named an All-American this season.
Gasper has had a stellar career for the Lady Warriors and ranks fifth all-time in career scoring with 1464 points and ranks eighth all-time in career rebounding with 682. During her career, Gasper has also accrued 155 assists, 150 steals, and 112 blocks and has been a complete player for Sterling in all four of her seasons of eligibility.
The Lady Warriors finished the 2010-2011 season with a 27-6 overall record and won their fifth straight KCAC Regular Season Championship before losing in the "Sweet Sixteen" of the 2011 State Farm-NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship Tournament.
