Former Trustee Robert “Bob” McCreery ’63 passes away

Former Sterling College Board of Trustee member Robert “Bob” McCreery ’63 of Estes Park, Colorado, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016.

“We are saddened to hear of Bob’s passing. He lived out the very heart of servant leadership within his family, community and at Sterling College. The McCreery family is very near and dear to our hearts, and our prayers go out to their family,” said Scott Rich, president.

McCreery served the College as a Trustee from 1986 to 1989. Previous to this, he served the College in a variety of positions including tennis coach, assistant football coach, director of admissions, and vice president of advancement.

In the 1970s, Bob founded All Pro Sports Camps, which brought to Sterling some of the top professional athletes of the era. In 1982, Bob founded Sterling Petroleum Company, where he served as President until 1997.

Bob’s father, William McCreery, served as president of the College from 1946 to 1973. Currently, Bob’s daughter, Heather McCreery ’90, serves on the College’s board and her husband, Scott Carter ’88 serves as the vice president for institutional advancement.
