Just six years after graduating from Sterling College, Matthew Ehresman ’10, has been published in several popular Christian magazines and has authored his first book. For demonstrated excellence in his career, service to others and loyalty to Sterling College, Ehresman was awarded the 2016 Young Alumni Award on Oct. 14 at the Alumni Banquet and Awards Dinner. In addition to his freelance writing, Ehresman is the creative media director at First MB Church in Wichita.

“Matt clearly exhibits the characteristics of a lifelong learner who has a call to excellence. He has a strong desire to learn from experts in his field, a trait that has already led him to impressive accomplishments. His humble spirit and engaging personality are infectious, and I am excited to see all that Matt will be able to accomplish in his career and personal life,” said Scott Carter, vice president for institutional advancement and external relations.

After earning his bachelor’s degree in graphic communications in 2010, Ehresman worked as a marketing intern at Walden Media in Boston. He then worked as a television and web production coordinator at Focus on the Family in Colorado Springs and earned an M.A. in Communication: Digital Media from Regent University. He then returned to Sterling College where he served as the web marketing manager, improving the College’s website and developing many marketing and communications initiatives.

Ehresman now works at First MB Church in Wichita as the creative media director while continuing to build his freelance writing career. His writings have been featured in a number of publications including “Relevant,” “Converge” and “Christian Leader” magazines. In 2016, he published his first book, “Upstream,” that urges Christians to fight the cultural current which leads to a better life in Christ.

Ehresman is married to Tillie (Wilbeck) Ehresman ’13.
