Dutton wins Outstanding Achievement Award
Dennis Dutton ’82, vice president for enrollment, has worked for the Office of Admissions at Sterling College for over 30 years and on Wednesday, June 1, was recognized with an Outstanding Achievement Award from the North American Coalition for Christian Admissions Professionals. The award was presented at the annual NACCAP conference, held this year in Upland, Indiana.
Dutton was nominated by two former co-workers, Matt James and Jordan Stineman. In their submission, they describe Dutton’s commitment to Sterling College and the community, along with his ability to create a family-like workplace. They also credit some of his success to his ability to recall people’s names, faces and personal history with the College.
“[Something] that astounds me is his ability to remember names and faces on an impressive level. Having been with the College for so long, he will frequently spot alumni visiting campus and be able to engage them in conversation often before they recognize him. I think that this is because Dennis truly loves people. He remains invested in the College that gave him his degree because he sees the difference it has made in his life and in the lives of others, and he wants that for the next generation.”
Sterling College President Scott Rich affirmed Dutton’s positive contributions to the College.
“Dennis is a valued member of Sterling College and of Cabinet. His history with the College and the local community give him a unique edge in his line of work, and we are lucky to have him working with us. Beyond his years of knowledge and wisdom, Dennis is always happy to be at work. His friendly demeanor and willingness to help make him a joy to work with,” said Rich.
