Denton Shines in Final Regular Season Home Match
Sterling, Kan. - The Sterling College Lady Warrior Volleyball Team was beaten on Wednesday night by KCAC powerhouse Tabor College in four sets. Tabor won the opening set 25-20, the third set 25-17, and the fourth set 25-18. Sterling won the second set 26-24. Tonight's game was the final regular season home game for lone Sterling senior Brooke Denton. Denton made it a night to remember, playing extremely well for the Lady Warriors.
Denton led Sterling offensively, attacking well all night long. She had a total of 16 kills in the match. Sara Steria had 14 kills, and Gelisa Thornton added 9 kills. Adriana Gonzalez led the Warriors in assists with 42. Thornton led SC in blocks with four with Denton and Steria adding three blocks each.
The loss drops Sterling to 6-10 in the KCAC, 10-19 overall. SC has two games remaining in the regular season. Sterling will travel to Kansas Wesleyan and to Bethel College to close out the season. The Kansas Wesleyan game is on Friday at 7:00 pm and the Bethel game is on Monday at 7:00 pm.
