Choral groups to perform Masterworks Concert
The Sterling College Chorale, Highland Singers and Sterling Lasses will present their final performance of the academic year in the Masterworks Concert on Sunday, May 5, at 3 p.m. at the Sterling United Methodist Church. The entirely acapella concert will be approximately 45 minutes long and is free and open to the public.
Selections to be performed by the Chorale include the spiritual, “Hold On!” as well as Whitacre’s “When David Heard.” The Highland Singers will perform selections from Hindemith’s “Six Chansons” and a spiritual version of “Give me Jesus.” The Sterling Lasses will perform “Four Sacred Songs for the Night.”
“I really think the audience will enjoy the variety of the selections,” said Mark Clark, assistant professor of music. “The songs range from an emotional piece about David in the Bible to joyous spiritual pieces about holding on to the gospel.”
