Music will fill Culbertson Auditorium Oct. 9-11 as Sterling College students and community members unite to produce “Jane Eyre,” a musical based on Charlotte Bronte’s classic novel. The show will open at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Seating is reserved and tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students, children and seniors. The box office will be open starting Monday, Oct. 6, from 1-5 p.m. for reservations by phone at 620-278-4265.

The musical drama begins with ill-treated orphan Jane Eyre living with her aunt and cousin, Mrs. Reed and John. She is sent to boarding school where she becomes a teacher, but moves on to tutor Edward Rochester’s ward, Adele. Jane falls in love with Rochester and begins a life of twists and turns in her love for him. The musical, consisting of book by John Caird with music and lyrics by Paul Gordon, was nominated for five Tony Awards.

Several students from the Sterling community are participating in “Jane Eyre.” Brittain Kennedy will play Adele and a school girl, and Sylvia Lambert has the role of Young Jane. Bella Brownlee, Zoe Harding, Emily Kerr, Cylie LaTourell, Alaina Madden, Brenna Treaster, Kesley Webb, Lydia Webb, Ella Wellman and Karissa Wilson will all play school girls in the musical.
