Scott Downing

Scott Downing ’79 is Sterling’s vice president for athletics. In his role at Sterling, Downing’s responsibilities include providing the strategic vision for Warrior Athletics and fundraising support to allow Sterling to consistently compete for championships. He provides long-range planning for Warrior Athletics and ensure compliance with the rules and regulations governing the operation of the athletic programs. Downing oversees an athletic department that features 18 teams and over 300 student-athletes.
 

Tracy Isaac

Tracy comes to Sterling College after serving as Registrar/Student Data Coordinator for Hesston High School.   A graduate of Tabor College, she got to experience firsthand the value of attending a Private Christian College.   She loves helping prospective students see the value of this type of education as well!  Tracy is married to Lonnie, and together they have three children, Tessa, Rhain and Logan.  When not cheering on the Warrior tennis team, she can be found cheering on her children at their events, doing DYI projects and reading a good book.

Brett Couture

Brett Couture is originally from Littleton, Colorado and is a Sterling College Alumni. He met his wife at SC, and he now serves as a Resident Director for Student Life as well as providing academic support in the Office of Student Success.

Jason Briar

Jason Briar ’99 serves as the vice president for Student Life. In this role, he directs all Student Life programming and coordination of personal services and programs related to the College’s student development efforts.  He will set the strategic direction for Student Life programs and will make recommendations on related policies.
 
Prior to coming to Sterling College, Jason has been in public education both as a teacher and administrator for the past 18 years, most recently served as Fairfield (Langdon, Ks) Middle & High School Principal.

Dana Ely

Dana Ely, RN has joined Sterling College as Campus Health Director. Dana received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Emporia State University and holds a multistate RN licensure. She has worked many years as a Family Practice Nurse as well as positions in Urgent Care and telephone triage nursing. She resides in Hutchinson with her husband, and they have two grown sons. They enjoy boating, jet skiing and camping.

Susie Carney

Susie Carney returned to her Alma Mater as the alumni director in 2017 after serving Andover Public Schools in Kansas for 13 years. Previously, Susie held positions such as online team lead in the banking industry. Also, she has served on Sterling’s Alumni Council in addition to several boards in the Greater Wichita area. Susie graduated from Sterling College in 1988 with a B.A. in Language Arts.

Nic Martinez

Nic Martinez is in his seventh year here at Sterling College, and is now set to begin his first official year as Head Men's Soccer coach in the fall of 2017. Coach Martinez has been a part of the Sterling soccer programs for the past seven years, working as an assistant for both the women's and men's soccer teams. As a former Warrior and standout keeper himself, Martinez has been the goalkeeper coach for both the women's and men's programs during his time at Sterling. Coach Martinez also played professional soccer for the Wichita Wings and the Wichita B-52s in Wichita, Kan.

Dr. Ken Brown

Brown returns to Sterling College after serving as the director of virtual learning and instructional technology at Hutchinson Community College. Prior to that, he was the vice president for innovation and technology at Sterling from 2005 to 2011.

“What a wonderful opportunity to serve where my heart lies, within an institution that I hold so dear. The future presents tremendous potential for Sterling College, and I am blessed to be able to take part in that progress as a servant leader, working alongside skilled and caring professionals who are here to serve Christ,” said Brown.
