Dr. Mark Watney
Mark was born and raised in South Africa and immigrated to the United States in 1977. He has also lived and worked in Japan (’83-’84), India (’87), Turkey (’92-’93), and Los Angeles (’93-’00) as a missionary and English high school teacher. After graduating with his doctorate from The University of Texas at Dallas, he and his wife Laurel (Director of the Mabee Library), moved to Sterling.

Under his direction, the Sterling College debate and forensics team has returned to regional and national prominence with the debate team capturing multiple state championship titles and placing 9th in the nation in 2010-2011 and 12th in 2011-2012.
Timothy Thorpe
Tim Thorpe brings 11 years of operations and management experience to the Sterling College Department of Business. Prior to coming to Sterling College, Tim was responsible for information and data security at Viking Collection Service in Eden Prairie, Minn.

Dr. Wai-Foong Hong
Her teaching strategy is to instruct in a way that enables students to understand the concepts thoroughly, analyze the issues critically and apply knowledge in practical ways. She also places significance on student learning through experience, by a series of practical experiments and tasks.
