Ken Troyer

Ken taught 13 years in Kansas public schools as a forensics and debate coach and public speaking and drama teacher. His teams won multiple state championships, with individual students not only winning state championships, but national titles as well.

Under his direction, the Sterling College debate and forensics team has returned to regional and national prominence with the debate team capturing multiple state championship titles and placing 9th in the nation in 2010-2011 and 12th in 2011-2012.

Timothy Thorpe

Tim Thorpe brings 11 years of operations and management experience to the Sterling College Department of Business. Prior to coming to Sterling College, Tim was responsible for information and data security at Viking Collection Service in Eden Prairie, Minn. 

Dr. Ryan "Pete" Manely

 
Pete enjoys many activities in his free time including music, reading, BBQ competitions/catering and eating out with friends; however, all of those are secondary to marrying the love of his life, Kay Manely. Pete and Kay have three beautiful children Cord (SC 2020 Alum), Brielle, and Braylen. His hometown is Lebanon, KS.

Dr. T. H. Kwa

Dr. Kwa is actively involved in helping small businesses get started in Sterling by sitting on the board of the E-Community program that grants low-interest loans to small businesses. He comes to Sterling with vast experience in real estate, international business, management and many other concentrations within the business field (details are provided below under Professional Experience).

Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Science with emphasis on Real Estate Finance from Texas A&M
M.S. in Land Development from Texas A & M

Dr. Wai-Foong Hong

Dr. Hong studied in Taiwan and Australia before moving to the United States. She is a specialist in genetic research and worked as a research associate for Mississippi State University and Ohio State University before coming to Sterling.

Her teaching strategy is to instruct in a way that enables students to understand the concepts thoroughly, analyze the issues critically and apply knowledge in practical ways. She also places significance on student learning through experience, by a series of practical experiments and tasks.
