Thursday, October 16, 2014

Current law enforcement professionals interested in serving in leadership and administration within the criminal justice system can now earn their degree online. Pairing organizational management classes with criminal justice coursework, Sterling College Online is offering a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies: Criminal Justice Administration. The program is also open to prospective students interested in law enforcement administration who are not currently in the law enforcement field.

“Our goal for the criminal justice administration program is to help those in law enforcement earn the degree they need to move into other roles within the criminal justice system. With the program being online, they can fulfill class requirements any time of the day or night, making it easier to work around second- and third-shift schedules,” said Dr. Gregory P. Kerr, vice president for academic affairs.

Students in the criminal justice administration program will take classes in criminology, criminal law, criminal investigation, principles of management, crisis management, and strategy and decision-making. Law enforcement personnel who have completed basic training at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center will receive up to 12 hours of credit towards their degree.
