Sterling College welcomes Lisa Parsons on July 1 as its Director of Career Services and First Year Program. "I am really looking forward to getting to know the students at SC and helping them with their college and career needs," said Parsons.

Parsons' education prepares her well for this position. She specialized in organizational leadership and human services at Fort Hays State University and then earned a graduate certificate in academic advising from Kansas State University. She also holds a master's in counseling and student development from Kansas State, where she has worked since August 2008 in its disability support services department. This past spring she also served as an education counselor at the Soldier and Family Assistance Center in Fort Riley, counseling soldiers concerning their educational plans and options.

"Lisa understands how it feels to struggle finding a major, and she looks forward to building direct relationships with students in their career process," said SC Vice President of Student Life Tina Wohler. "Her master's work in counseling and student development will help her bring a strong foundation to those areas here at Sterling."
