Silent Auction for Missions Trips

Friday, December 2, 2011

The India and Philippines missions trip teams will be hosting a silent auction downtown at Broadway Market on Monday, December 5 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. Melissa Virts, leader of Team India, said, “We will be selling a little bit of everything. We have crafts, ornaments, crochet and knit items, homemade canned goods, and a refurbished bicycle.”

The bidding will be begin at 7:00 a.m. and will end at 8:45 p.m. Additionally, team members from both teams will show off their skills through live music and entertainment from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Each team is excited to encourage people and form new relationships that will reshape their worldviews while on their trip. Team Philippines co-leader, Melissa Wisner, spoke about her expectations for the team’s trip and why they are hosting this silent auction. “The team will go to [the Philippines] to work with impoverished communities through spreading the Gospel as well as meeting physical needs.” Students going to India are planning on performing similar ministry, but they will also be hosting VBS, working with special needs children, practicing village evangelism, and teaching students at a school of worship.
