Professor Emeritus Dr. Craig Gannon Passed Away

Professor Emeritus of British Literature Dr. Craig Arlen Gannon, 75, of McPherson, Kan., passed away on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014 in Wichita, Kan. Gannon taught British literature and the honors section of freshman composition for many years. He and his wife, Judi, also took students to England for a Literary London course where students visited historical landmarks such as Shakespeare’s birthplace, C.S. Lewis’ writing desk and Jane Austen’s home.

Gannon was born in Bismarck, N.D., on Dec. 3, 1938. He attended the Bismarck public schools, Harvard University and the University of Minnesota. He married Judith A. Strutz on June 30, 1967, in Bismarck, N.D. 

Gannon first taught at Central Christian College, McPherson, Kan., then accepted a position as professor of British literature at Sterling College. He remained at Sterling for 18 years. He was named faculty emeritus of English upon his retirement.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, McPherson, Kan., where he served his church in several capacities throughout 34 years.
