Sterling College signs articulation agreement with Southwest Baptist University’s doctor of physical therapy program | December 19, 2014

Students graduating with a bachelor’s degree in health science: pre-physical therapy from Sterling College now have an advantage in their pursuit of doctoral work. Those students have been guaranteed through a newly developed articulation agreement that their undergraduate classes will fulfill the prerequisite course requirements for the doctor of physical therapy program at Southwest Baptist University.

The Lady Warriors traveled to Leavenworth, Kan. on Saturday to take on the University of Saint Mary Spires for their last KCAC match-up before the Christmas break. Sterling survived a second half offensive push by Saint Mary to take down the Spires 80-73.

SC ranks 29 for Best Value Christian Colleges and Universities | December 16, 2014

Making its debut appearance, Sterling College was ranked 29 in the top 50 Best Value Christian Colleges and Universities by Christian Universities Online. Colleges on the list are accredited by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools or a member/affiliate of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities.

The list was formed using two calculations: a ratio of quality to price and overall discount. Data was taken from the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics.

Bray and Langford To Play in D2 Vs. NAIA Challenge on December 20th | December 15, 2014

Sterling's Antonio Bray (SR/Van Nuys, Calif.) and Reggie Langford (SR/Rancho Cordova, Calif.) have been selected to participate in the fourth annual D2 vs NAIA Challenge in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on December 20th, 2014. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.

Soliday, Walton selected as fall Teachers of Promise | December 3, 2014

The Kansas Teachers of Promise for the fall semester convened in Wichita on Nov. 22 for the annual workshops led by the 2015 Kansas Teacher of the Year finalists. Sterling College named Elizabeth Soliday of Estes Park, Colorado, and Morgan Walton of Sterling, Kansas, as their fall representatives.

Criteria for the Teachers of Promise award relate to the key elements of the Sterling Teacher Education Program and include IDEAL attributes of integrity, dependability, effective communication, appropriate attitude and leadership.

Sterling College students learn from national leaders | December 1, 2014

College students, recent graduates and professionals from across the country met at the National Student Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C., and Sterling College sent four students to participate in the event. Josh Hood, Fayola Oyatayo, Chelsea Stephenson and Tennissa Williams were encouraged by speakers in national politics, business and social services to become better leaders through refining themselves. The meetings and small group sessions that worked on building character and understanding leadership were part of the conference that took place Oct. 31-Nov.

Sterling College to hold band, choir and small chamber ensemble concerts | November 25, 2014

The first week of December will house concerts for the Sterling Community Band, Sterling College choirs and small chamber ensemble. All concerts are free and open to the public.

The Sterling Community Band concert will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church under the direction of Dr. Brad Nix, associate professor of music.

Senior exhibit and juried student art show open Nov. 20 | November 12, 2014

Two art exhibits will be housed simultaneously in the gallery of the Art and Media Center at Sterling College. Lucas Knauss will display his senior thesis work, “Unnatural Selection: The Game!” along with the juried student art show, opening Thursday, Nov. 20, from 5-7 p.m. Awards for best of show, second and third place of the juried show will be announced at 6 p.m. The public is invited to attend this free event; artwork will be on display until Dec. 11.

Sterling College Online representatives to visit Hutchinson | November 7, 2014

Attending college online is a growing trend, but it can be difficult trying to choose the right school when you do not have the opportunity to meet faculty, talk about financial aid or have someone answer questions about their degree programs. Sterling College Online is filling this need by hosting an open house on Monday, Nov. 17, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Central Christian High School in Hutchinson for anyone interested in taking online classes.
