Roszel, Wise awarded with Sterling College Young Alumni Award | November 1, 2013

Each year Sterling College recognizes a young alumni who has made significant contributions to their profession and community in 15 or less years after graduating. For the 2013 Young Alumni Award, Sterling College chose Kate Wise ’04 of Salina, Kan., and awarded a posthumous award to Kristy (Kalivoda) Roszel ’02.

Heritage Convocation to take place on Friday | October 31, 2013

The annual Heritage Convocation will take place on Sterling College’s 126th birthday, Friday, Nov. 1, at 10:00 a.m. in Culbertson Auditorium. The public is invited to attend this free event.

Sterling College to dedicate Lonnie Kruse Court | October 30, 2013

Coach Lonnie Kruse will be honored in the Gleason Center at 6:30 p.m. with a dedication ceremony naming the court after the long-time and winning coach. Kruse has served as head women’s basketball coach for 32 years and is the all-time winningest women’s basketball coach in Kansas. He is second on the active list for wins in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Kozlowski-Slone exhibits art in Michigan and California | October 29, 2013

Assistant Professor of Art and Design Hanna Kozlowski-Slone has been chosen to participate in two art exhibits across the United States. Her papercuts, Carnation Carcass and The Long-Awaited, were accepted into two separate shows by juried selection.

Cureton honored with Sterling College Alumni Award | October 23, 2013

Nominated for his many accomplishments and contributions to his Alma Mater, Dr. Alan Cureton was awarded the 2013 Sterling College Alumni Award at the homecoming alumni banquet on Saturday, Oct. 19. Cureton is currently the president of University of Northwestern – St. Paul.

On Oct. 18, 2013, Sterling College faculty, staff, students and guests attended the inauguration of Sterling College’s 12th president, Scott A. Rich. The inauguration was held at 9:30 a.m. in a packed Culbertson Auditorium.

SC debate succeeds at national level | October 16, 2013

The Sterling College debate team competed against the top teams in the nation at Lafayette College in Easton, Pa., on Oct. 5-6. The Warriors selected this competition to have the opportunity to compete against the top team in the nation, Western Kentucky University, St. Olaf College, Hillsdale College, St. Anselm University, Ohio State University and many more.

SC Homecoming court announced | October 16, 2013

The Sterling College Homecoming court has been named. Homecoming coronation ceremonies will take place Saturday, Oct. 19 at halftime of the football game against Ottawa University.

Candidates are selected by fellow classmates. They must have at least a 2.5 GPA, be in good standing with the College and must be a senior or a junior who plans to graduate in the spring.

Sterling College presidential inauguration set for Oct. 18 | October 15, 2013

The installation ceremony for Sterling College’s 12th president, Scott A. Rich, will be held in Culbertson Auditorium in Spencer Hall on Friday, Oct. 18 at 9:30 a.m. Rich will deliver his inaugural speech, “A Call to Extraordinary Service,” along with music sung by the Highland Singers and a charge led by Chair of the Board of Trustees Heather McCreery ’90.
